Angela Alford of the Family Readiness Group of the Central Illinois National Guard Families thanks the benefit crowd at the Elks Club on Friday, November 7 2008 in Pontiac IL. Jack Murphy, President of the Livingston County War Museum/ Dal Estes Education Center and Korean War combat veteran is in the center. Willis Harms, museum Board member and World War II combat veteran is on the right.
National Guard Benefit at Elks Club
Our First Annual Benefit was a great success! Thank you to businesses in Pontiac and Livingston and McLean County for your donations on behalf of our local troops about to deploy to Afghanistan! Many thanks to the over 250 people who showed their support by attending the benefit dinner and silent auction! A big salute to the numerous individuals who helped us plan and carry out this wonderful evening. Finally, a special thank you to the Pontiac Elks, Nancy Phillips - restaurant manager and her staff, Doug Bertsche of Prairie Land Gallery in Pontiac for his donation of the Lincoln Memorial print, Bank of Pontiac and Caterpillar for your generous donations, the staff and families of our museum and above all, our Central Illinois National Guard troops and their families.
