Godspeed and Farewell, John.

The War Museum has lost one of our members, John Rodino of Pontiac. John was long a teacher in Pontiac schools and one of "America's Greatest Generation" - the World War II veterans.

John served with the 3rd Infantry Division in Europe and was the radioman for Audie Murphy, America's most decorated hero of World War II. John earned the Combat Infantry Badge, Silver Star medal, Bronze Star medal, French Croix de Guerre with Palms and four battle stars and the Presidential Unit Citation.

John, we will truly miss you. Your impact on Pontiac and its people will last forever.

Jack Murphy, President
Livingston County War Museum

A Thoughtful 4th of July

IT IS THE SOLDIER

It is the Soldier, not the reporter
Who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the Soldier, not the poet
Who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the Soldier, not the campus organizer
Who has given us the freedom to demonstrate.

It is the Soldier, not the lawyer
Who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the Soldier, not the politician
Who has given us the right to vote.

It is the Soldier
Who salutes the flag
Who serves under the flag
And whose coffin is draped by the flag
Who allows the protester to burn the flag.

The Elevator is Coming!

Construction of the lobby and elevator to serve the second floors of the War Museum and the 66 Museum has begun! It should be completed before Labor Day. Our thanks to the City of Pontiac and the Byrne-Humiston Trust for their financial support of this
project that means so much to us.
