D - DAY: JUNE 6, 1944 - WE REMEMBER

Sixty-six years ago, America's sons stormed the beaches of Normandy France along with our allies to begin the liberation of Europe from Nazi domination. My dad, Dalmain Estes, was one of those men who survived "Bloody Omaha Beach" whose sands
were covered with over 2000 men at the end of the day. This is a salute to him, to those who came home, and especially to those who didn't- to all the men and women who saved humanity in World War II.

  1. David,
My name is francis Paz, I am a tour guide in Normandy. I was lucky to meet your father in 2004 and since I met him, I tell his story everyday to my american clients. I have no words to say how grateful I am for what your father and his comrades did to liberate my country 66 years ago.
I also want to ask you a favor, it would be nice if you could send me the picture of your father in front of the bunker (wn65) so that I can show it to my clients.
Thank you david, here is my adress: francispaz@hotmail.fr

  2. Francis,
I have sent the photos. Have you received them?
Thank you for your kind comments about my father. Do you know that he founded a museum in Pontiac Illinois? I work there 2 -3 days a week. Our website is: www.warmuseum.blogspot.com. We are also on Facebook. Search for: "Livingston County War Museum".
Hope to hear from you soon.
    David Estes
