Dal Estes - Our Founder

This blog is dedicated to my father and the founder of our Museum - Dalmain H. Estes of Pontiac IL. A veteran of the 467th AAA (SP) half-track battalion, he landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day, captured and took a Nazi flag from bunker WN65, and fought on to the Battle of the Bulge. Inspired by the reception he received by the French during the 50th Anniversary ceremonies in 1994,he dreamed of starting a museum to show respect to the American soldier, sailor and airman. My father worked tirelessly with a local "Band of Brothers" to create a hands-on, living history museum staffed by veterans whose aim is to bring to the public the stories and artifacts of true American heroes - our Veterans.

  1. David, your blog is looking good! Your father created a beautiful thing for our community when he founded the museum.
